HOW AND WHY
In my practice i use older versions of SD and MidJourney and Dalle as I try to find texture and compositions and figures that are kind of wrong, the mistakes AI makes, and try enhance them. A machine becomes more human if you keep the mistakes.
I often begin with a sketch made in Procreate or Photoshop. I run it through AI and paint on the output. I run it again. This ping pong game continues until I find a composition and texture I like. One single artwork can have over 200 outputs.
I no longer ask what the finished painting means, but rather let the process create questions, paths and solutions. It is a colab where the machine and the human experiment and bounce off each other.
